Eye-catchers include the white three-dimensional wall surrounding the open kitchen, the Japan-inspired photographic artwork by Casper Faassen, and the origami-bird lamps above the bar. For your comfort, we’ve chosen linen-clad round tables and grey ‘kimono chairs’.

Restaurant Amarone is the pride of chef Jan van Dobben and hostess-sommelier Yoshiko Van Dobben-Takayama. Grounded in classical French cuisine, Jan cooks internationally with subtle Japanese influences and techniques, enriched by his annual journeys to Japan.
Amarone opened in 2006 under Gert Blom and Harrie Baas and has held a Michelin star since 2007. Jan joined Amarone in 2012 and became full owner in 2018 after becoming co-owner in 2017. Originally from Japan, Yoshiko Van Dobben-Takayama graduated in France as an oenologist and worked at three-star L’Arnsbourg in Alsace as chef de cave. The couple met while working at L’Arnsbourg. In the Netherlands, Yoshiko worked at two-star &Moshik in Amsterdam, where she was named Food & Wine Pairing Specialist of the Year 2015 by Gault&Millau. In 2017 she joined Jan when he became co-owner of Amarone, and in December 2019 Gault&Millau named her Sommelier of the Year 2020.
On Friday and Saturday evenings, we exclusively serve the Amarone menu in 6 or 7 courses. In addition, guests may choose our Prestige menu or dine à la carte.
To maintain the highest quality for our guests, lunch service concludes at 16:15 at the latest. In the evening, the restaurant closes at 23:30.
